We’ve expanded….
To help with both the production and sales side of our business, we are very happy to have found LIla Smith to pick up the slack.

Here’s the obligatory studio shot… actually she was handy as a test model when setting up the lights. So we’ve got this picture of her but we should really take an image of her at her desk, but we can’t do that because my desk might show up and it’s a bit, um, disorganized at the moment. But I’ve got lots of good excuses…. I’m a pretty busy guy.
We will be using her very personable personality to meet with clients such as yourself to charm you into purchasing prints and wall portraits (hey, this is a business after all), and her Humanities and Visual Arts degree to help in our production side to make our images look even better.
Welcome Lila… clap clap clap

Hey all,
We’ve joined the Twitter bandwagon and if you’ve already been a twittererer then you can follow us at @VeridamoPhoto.
We’re not sure how we’ll use it yet, but we plan to make every tweet count - we’re not really into the mindless “Hey, I really enjoyed the burger I just ate” kind of posts. Mmmmm, burger. I love White Spot burgers. And the fries are great too.Â
See what can happen if you just type what comes into your brain?
Maybe we’ll do Tweet Specials and offer discounts on products to our fellows twits/tweeters/whatever we’ll called.
…Meanwhile back at the ranch, lots of action with our Kids of Vancouver project. It’s mostly been setting up consultations and meeting with everyone but now we begin to photograph, and photograph, and photograph. We’ll post a cross-section of our sessions to the blog as they happen….
There’s still room in the project if you or anyone you know would like to participate.
Visit www.KidsOfVancouver.com to learn more.

Â

If you are a past client, or have visited the Veridamo home page you’ll know that we have kicked of a large and important project this year, one that we have alluded to in a couple of past posts.
We are looking for everyday kids that live in Metro Vancouver to photography for a limited edition coffee table art book titled “Kids of Vancouver 2009″, with the book being published at the end of the year.
Rather than our normal sitting fee for the portfolio session, we are asking for a $100 donation per family that goes to two local food bank programs that help children in need.
To learn more about the project and charities involved, please visit a special website we have created at www.KidsOfVancouver.com, and remember to tell your family and friends.
The number of spots are limited (probably 200-250 children) so if you haven’t already nominated your children, you should consider doing so as soon as you can.
And a big thank you to everyone that has already contacted us and filled out nomination forms. The photography sessions are already underway….

A huge influx of babies haved arrived this year - another addition to our Veridamo family is baby Grace (aka Gracie). Her lucky parents are wedding clients of ours, Stefanie and Nick. Gracie arrived on March 4th 2009 weighing 6 lbs 10oz. and 19.5 inches long. When we photographed her she was just 11 days old. Congratulations Stef and Nick! Welcome to the “Club”!

Whew!!!! (insert picture of me wiping my brow, which is ironic if you stop to think about it because we do have the ability to take an actual picture of me wiping my brow, but it’s late, I haven’t shaved, and my desk is a mess)
We are very excited to announce the launch of the Portrait section of our website. Up to know we’ve just relied on word of mouth for all our Family and Baby portrait work, but it seemed time to actually publish a site dedicated to this area of our photography.
You can go to www.veridamo.com and click on the Portrait link, or you can navigate there directly at portraits.veridamo.com.
We’d love to hear from our existing clients and any clients on what you think. Do you have any favourite images?
And for those eagle eyed friends, family, and clients you may notice that our daughter Alexia makes a special guest appearance in a couple of places. We couldn’t resist!
Now that this project is out of the way, we are moving on to an even bigger project. We hope to have another announcement in the next couple of weeks so keep your ears and eyes open.
… and no, we aren’t expecting a second child.
… errr, ummm, at least I don’t think we are. Tanya? (he asks nervously)

The absolutely beautiful and photogenic Alisa (oh yes, and John
) were married at Swan-E-Set Bay Resort & Country Club last fall.
We are just getting around to posting some of our favourite images. Notice a pattern with us? Hmmm.. But it’s all changing. We’ve hired a nanny and one of our goals is to be more up to date and varied in our blog posts. So back to Alisa and John….
One unusual event with their wedding was that they both actually got ready at our home - which made it a little easier for us to scout locations
Alisa and John were in the wedding party of a previous wedding and it’s always a lot of fun for us when the bridal party overlaps like it did. It’s like we get to spend the day hanging out with good friends…
A cool shot of Alisa’s dress

The girl’s first look at Alisa in her gown

Oooohhhhhhh

We love this shot, with John just silhoutted in the background…
And fantastic wicked veil. Yeah Alisa!!

A candid momemt at the entrance to Swan-E-Set

Ooohh, an even more candid moment. Blush…

The group heading off to the ceremony and reception

Mmmmmmm… cake…… (by Justine’s Sugar Lane Cakes)

The ceremony outdoors. It couldn’t have been a better day with the weather

Obviously as soon as you get married you go off to play a round of golf

These are a couple of balcony shots inside at Swan-E-Set. We love this place!!!

Congratulations you two!!!

Once again we attended the WPPI - Wedding Portrait Photographers International convention in Las Vegas. This year the convention moved from Balley’s/Paris to a larger venue at the MGM Grand. It was refreshing to be in a new place - we stayed at Signature Suites - which we highly recommend. Â
This year we brought our dear daughter with us again (she’s just too cute to leave home). As well we brought our nanny - you’ll have to wait to see why until the last image in this post :). Having our nanny there enabled us to reconnect with our photographer friends around the world and socialize past Alexia’s 8pm curfew without worrying about our little girl - after all Vegas is a wild place!
We left Las Vegas with new ideas, new friends and amazing mentors to help us grow our business this year. Stay tuned for some exciting projects and announcements to come.

.
The MGM has the coolest decor. I love the glitz and glam and the lights, mirrors and ambiance. It is such an amazing place to photograph.
.
This is the inside of Rouge - one of the nightly hangout spots.
.
MGM Grand Hotel and Casino has created a one-of-a-kind Lion Habitat as a showcase for public education and appreciation for this majestic creature of nature. The lion has been a part of the MGM heritage for many years, beginning with the legendary Leo, whose roars have welcomed generations of moviegoers to epics of the silver screen.
.
The lions live in custom accommodations on an 8.5-acre ranch 12 miles from the MGM Grand. They are owned and cared for by noted feline expert Keith Evans, who has been training exotic animals for more than 30 years. Each day 2-3 of the lions make their way to the MGM Grand to hang out!
.
A trip to Vegas wouldn’t be the same without a walk down the Legendary Strip at night!
.
Vegas was very quiet - as you can see - not alot of traffic! That all changed on Valentine’s Day! You couldn’t get into any restaurant if you tried - most were completely reserved. So we starved that night well, not really - we used our preferred customer card at the Rainforest Cafe!
.
The lovely Eiffel tower at Paris Hotel/Casino at night. Close your eyes ladies and picture yourself in France!
.
The New York, New York. One of my personal favorites to photograph!
.
The Skyline is forever changing on the strip. This is part of CityCenter, the 18.6 million-square-foot, $7.4 billion hotel, casino, retail and residential complex on 76 prime acres of this city’s legendary Strip. This glitzy mega project will hold the Vdara Condo Hotel, (1543 residences), The Veer Towers (2 of them) will house 337 residence each both inclined at a 5 degree angle! The Mandarin Oriental (400 hotel rooms and 227 private residence) and finally the Harmon Hotel (400 hotel rooms and 228 condos). You can be the happy owner of a one bedroom flat for the bargain price of $1.24 million!
.
One evening we walked, baby, nanny and all to the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign. Photo taken by Nanny Christina
.
Another photo courtessy of Nanny Christina!
.
Doesn’t she look impressed to be with us? And she isn’t even close to being 16 yet!
.
Our nanny Christina is fun to photograph and a great photogenic test subject. I saw this wall and instantly had an idea for a photo. Usually Alexia is my model so it was nice to have someone new to work with that takes direction well!
.
Jeff and myself with friends Jim and Katarina who own a successful studio in Seattle. Jim was a platform speaker at WPPI this year and he and Katarina have designed photography lens bags called Boda Bags www.goboda.com.
.
Aussie mates, Julie & Tero Sade from down unda, down unda in Hobart,Tasmania.
.
Ok, so this is my favorite shot taken at WPPI. We spent many hours walking back and forth from our suite at Signature to the Conference Centre at MGM Grand and Alexia loved the moveaters!
.
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
And for those of you brave enough to wait till the end, this is why we brought our nanny to Vegas!

Thank you to everyone who participated in our First Annual Halloween Spooktacular. We collected several hundred dollars in cash donations and tonnes of food for the Share Food Bank. Some of the most popular characters of choice were: Hannah Montanas, Witches, Super Heros, Pumpkins, Indianna Jones, Pirates and lots and lots of Fairies!Â
Below is a handful of little people that came to Trick or Treat. Unfortunately we aren’t able to post everyone’s photos - I’d be here all night! But we thank you all for coming out to support the Share Food Bank. We hope you will join us again next year and bring some of your friends too! Cheers, Tanya

One of our long time clients, the Raines Family came in to celebrate Sienna’s first birthday so we took the kids to the beach. Thank goodness Mom brought extra clothes for them to wear. A session with us sometimes entitles the kids to get dirty or wet - even though they wouldn’t otherwise get the opportunity!

A handsome little character visited the studio recently - of course accompanied by his loving parents Kristen and Christopher - former wedding clients of ours.  Funny how that happens - the natural progression of love, marriage, baby carriage.. How many times did you hear that old Rhyme on the playground when you were a kid??? “So and So” and “So and So” Sittin’ in a tree K.I.S.S.I.N.G first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage.
